YAV’s Dance for Life awarded 2015 Dominion ArtStars Award!
It is with great pleasure to announce that Young Audiences of Virginia, Inc‘s Dance for Life program received the 2015 Dominion ArtStars Regional Shining Star Award presented in partnership by Virginians for the Arts and the Dominion Foundation. Thank you to Bonita Harris, Media and Community Relations Manager for Dominion Virginia Power and Patricia Rublein, Vice President of Virginians for the Arts for presenting the award at YAV’s Raise a Ruckus 60th Anniversary gala.
The 2015 Dominion ArtStars Award recognizes arts organizations that best demonstrate the ability to advance the synergy between arts and education in the community. These awards celebrate the contributions of arts organizations through their partnership and collaboration with schools across the Commonwealth.

Friends of YAV Kick Off Brunch
On Saturday, October 10, 2015, YAV introduced a new group of “Friends” at the Cambria at Cornerstone Clubhouse in Virginia Beach. Attendees enjoyed coffee and brunch while hearing from storyteller Via Goode, meeting friends both new and old, and getting to know YAV staff and Board members. Members of Friends of YAV receive our monthly e-newsletter, enjoy exclusive opportunities to participate as Program Observers, attend and assist with introducing community members to YAV’s mission and programs, and volunteer at special events and in the office.

Meet Our Scheduling Director: Jennifer Chapman
Jennifer Chapman graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Arts Administration, as well as a Professional Certificate in Arts Management. Prior to her role with YAV, she worked with numerous nonprofit organizations in the Hampton Roads area including, the Chrysler Museum of Art, the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and the Sandler Center for Performing Arts. Jennifer danced competitively for 14 years and has been an arts enthusiast ever since. She is a native to Virginia Beach and enjoys spending time with family and naps on the beach.
