Program Description
The Matheson Brothers use contrasting musical styles ranging from Bach to Bartok and from Appalachian to Arabia to take audiences on a musical journey back in time. Hear sounds of nature, trains, and more as they are imitated on violin and viola. An instrumental “petting-zoo” with small-sized violins allows students to experience playing and feeling the physics of how stringed instruments work. The artists play examples of folk and classical music to illustrate their similarities and differences. They even disassemble a violin bow and engage the students in interactive moments making a program that is fun and educational for all.
