YAV Dance Club at Seatack Elementary, An Achievable Dream Academy

Get ready for a movin’ and groovin’ year of learning! The students at Seatack Elementary an Achievable Dream Academy will discover the history and key movements of classical ballet and modern dance in a year-long residency. With a curriculum designed by Young Audiences and a teaching artist from Todd Rosenlieb Dance, the students will cover dance history, learn dance terminology and develop their skills in creating their own choreography. The residency is split into two semesters and performances will be at the end of each semester.

Meet Anna Green, YAV’s Scheduling Projects Director!

Anna 08262010Anna Heywood Green is currently the Scheduling Projects Director for Young Audiences – Arts for Learning – Virginia. Anna joined YAV in January of 2004 and previously served as the Scheduling Director, coordinating and managing artists, teachers, and staff.

Now as the Projects Director, Anna supports YAV’s mission through preparation of proposals and grants for financial support for our services while providing logistic and planning support for special events, projects, residencies, professional development for educators and artists, marketing, and conferences. From serving as a liaison to program site or artists to coordinating and tracking planning, schedules, assessments, and documentation, Anna is ecstatic to assist the students and educators of Virginia in receiving the quality arts-in-education experiences they deserve.

Prior to her decade at YAV, Anna served as the Group Sales Manager and Marketing Assistant with Virginia Stage Company where she was a tireless advocate on behalf of the theatre and a valued contributor to the daily life of the company. Anna has been involved in Arts Management for over 18 years and attended both Tidewater Community College and the College of William and Mary.

Become a “Friend of YAV”!

Young Audiences of Virginia will be breaking ground on a new group of “Friends!” Under the leadership of two YAV board members, Judy Gutterman and Vivian Margulies, along with our dear friend Fran Pederson, our Friends of YAV group will be launched on October 10, 2015 at a brunch at Cambria at Cornerstone. The purpose of this group is to develop a volunteer base to support our artists, teachers and staff. Members of Friends of YAV will help host our Whistle Stop Tours, be trained as program observers and evaluators, help with special events and projects, and help in the office during busy times. If you would like to join Friends of YAV, please contact Jasmine Khadrane here , and she will forward your name to Vivian and Judy.

Meet Daniel Pope, YAV’s Bookkeeper

Danny joined YAV in January 2015 with more than 10 years of experience in accounting and financial management. Since then, Danny has provided integrity and commitment to his work to fulfill Young Audiences’ mission. Danny has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business with a concentration in Finance from the University of Phoenix. In his spare time, Danny enjoys spending time with family, his wonderful son Tristan, boating on the Nottoway River, golfing and being adventurous. In addition to Danny’s experience and personal qualities, he has a passion to help children receive a solid educational foundation by educating our youth through the arts.
