Approximately 57% of American children receive no training or exposure to dance education (National Dance Education Organization). By combining dance with visual arts, Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia’s Capture Dance project strived to initiate and develop new cognitive connections for students as they observed the world around them.
Now the public has the opportunity to witness the success of the students and the Capture Dance project through an art exhibition to be held at Slover Library, 3rd floor, June 2nd through June 8th, with a closing reception for students and community members on June 8th from 6 PM-7:30 PM. Light refreshments will be available to those who attend.

Friends Who Lunch
A big thank you to all of those who attended our Lunch and Learn event on May 26! It was a great hour of passionate conversation, idea sharing and networking. We truly are surrounded by an amazing group of people. A special shout out to our Friends of YAV volunteer guild for hosting and helping to coordinate the event. Lunch and Learn events allow us to connect with key community members and potential Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia partners. They allow for a brief window into all that Young Audiences is doing within our community and how people can get involved. (Not to mention the delicious lunch provided)
If you or someone you know is interested in attending a future Lunch and Learn, please contact our PR/Development Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Balance in and out of the Classroom
On May 21st, participants of Virginia Beach GrowSmart found their zen through one of Young Audiences Arts for Learning Virginia’s newest teaching programs.
These techniques that employed relaxation and the five senses could then be brought back and implemented in their classrooms.
